Bravo Media and Universal Cable Productions Commence Production in Vancouver on Bravo's First Scripted Series GIRLFRIENDS' GUIDE TO DIVORCE
Bravo Media announces the commencement of production in Vancouver on its first original scripted series "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce" starring Lisa Edelstein. The series follows Abby, a newly single self-help book author, who embarks on the next chapter of her life and finds herself seeking advice from her divorced friends Lyla, played by Janeane Garofalo and Phoebe, played by Beau Garrett. Previously announced Necar Zadegan ("Emily Owens, MD," "24") stars as Delia, a divorce attorney at Lyla's firm. Premiering later this year, the hour-long series ups Paul Adelstein to a series regular playing Abby's husband Jake, and rounds out the cast, adding Patrick Heusinger ("Royal Pains") as Abby's brother Max, J. August Richards ("Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "Angel") as Max's husband Ford, C. Thomas Howell ("Criminal Minds," "The Outsiders") as Abby's love interest Nate, Julianna Guill ("Crazy, Stupid, Love") as Jake's 23-year old girlfriend Becca, Michael Weaver ("The Joe Schmo Show") as Lyla's ex-husband Dan and Charles Mesure ("Desperate Housewives") as Phoebe's ex Ralf. The pilot also includes a cameo by Carrie Fisher as Abby's book editor Cat.
Inspired by the "Girlfriends' Guide" book series by Vicki Iovine, "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce" is produced by Universal Cable Productions with Marti Noxon, who wrote the pilot, Vicki Iovine and Meryl Poster serving as executive producers. The pilot was directed by Adam Brooks. Robert Duncan McNeill ("666 Park Avenue," "Chuck") serves as Producing Director for the series.
