According to published reports, Broadway veteran and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will guest star in the season four premiere of NURSE JACKIE. His character is described as: " a badass, has a tattoo that says No Regrets and is a drug user who meets Jackie one night. He is chasing after that ultimate high. Has kids and a wife who don't talk to him anymore."

In 2010, Armstrong joined the cast of American Idiot, the stage adaptation of the Green Day album with the same name, for one week in the role of St. Jimmy. Armstrong returned to the role of St. Jimmy for 50 performances beginning January 1, 2011.

NURSE JACKIE, which has received both critical and audience acclaim, stars Emmy and Golden Globe® winner Edie Falco, who just this past season received an Emmy in the "Comedy" category for her lead role. NURSE JACKIE also stars Eve Best, Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Dominic Fumusa, Anna Deavere Smith, Ruby Jerins, Mackenzie Aladjem, and Peter Facinelli. Arjun Gupta, Lenny Jacobson and Stephen Wallem guest star. Bobby Cannavale will be a special guest star this season. Liz Brixius and Linda Wallem write and executive produce the series. Richie Jackson and Caryn Mandabach serve as executive producers. The series is a co-production of SHOWTIME and Lionsgate.
