If that's the penultimate episode of the mid-season, I think we're in some real trouble next week. Talk about action packed, every single storyline is headed for disaster and with only one episode to go in 2014, not even a second was wasted.

Now that Fitz finally believes that Jake is innocent, they have to work together to bring down Command. No easy task since Rowan has eyes everywhere. They decide to keep Jake in prison while the Armed Forces gather the files on B-613 Jake had stowed away and deliver them to David Rosen. Jake and Fitz decide that they need to get Rowan in a secured area where they can arrest him secretly. Olivia decides that she is the only thing that can distract him and she invites him to dinner.

Elizabeth hires Olivia to find out who has hacked into her phone. It's an easy task to find that Cyrus has. He spills all his secrets to Olivia and asks her to help him instead. Olivia finds Mike and confronts him. Turns out, he didn't do too much of anything and he actually really cares for Cyrus. He gives Olivia a tip of Elizabeth's secret apartment. With gratitude, she tells Cyrus that he may just be a decent guy and care for Cyrus genuinely.

There is an assassination attempt on the VP when his car explodes seconds before he reaches it. Mellie rushes to his side and reignites their affair. She apologizes for ignoring him. She was all mad because he chose the office over her and then the kid died and whatever she's over it. She needs someone to love her so this is good. (At least in this point in the episode.)

Huck is hanging out with Havi even against Olivia's warnings that Astrid Kim won't approve and Quinn is still working on that other case they're still dangling in the background. So that's like the first 45 minutes of the show. But the last 15 minutes... my goodness!

Huck is surveilling Elizabeth's house (with Havi, no less) and Quinn shows up as Kubiak arrived there too. So we find out Kubiak is working for Elizabeth. AND ANDREW! (The VP.) Yes, Elizabeth and Andrew are having an affair and working together. They dismiss Kubiak who quickly discovers the stakeout van and attacks Quinn and Huck. Huck kills Kubiak and can you guess who sees Daddy doing his job? Yup, poor little Havi.

Olivia goes to dinner with Rowan as all the snipers get into place. But he knows exactly what's happening and has all the snipers killed. And then he just Keyser Sose's himself out of the building into oblivion. Simultaneously, David Rosen opens the file boxes with his team to discover they are all blank. Rowan's last line, "You think the world is so terrible with me in it? Wait 'til you see what it's like without me." Perfect exit line.

And yes, that was the SECOND to last episode of the year. So now the Vice President is working with the RNC to what, get rid of the Fitz administration? Even though (according to Olivia) they stuffed the ballot boxes to get him in there?

No Abby this episode. After last week's horrific confrontation with her ex-husband, I like to pretend that she took a few days and went to a spa and got a massage and was drinking wine from one of Olivia's obscenely big glasses.

I am positive that is not the last we will see of Rowan. There's just no way, but man, what an epic exit. So where does this leave our assassin with a heart of gold, Jake... oops sorry, Captain Ballard? There's no proof now that he's not guilty, so what's Fitz to do? (Also, if we can't get shirtless Scott Foley scenes, Scott Foley in fatigues is fine too.) And I really thought Olivia was just giving Fitz false hope about the two of them to help Jake, but she really kissed him in that bunker, didn't she now? What's a girl to do, indeed!

What I Know:

  • Poor little Havi is going to be in therapy for years.

  • Man, Mellie cannot catch a BREAK!

  • Neither can David Rosen.

What I Don't Know:

  • Is there hope for Mike and Cyrus now? Cyrus needs a break too.

  • We still don't know what that other case has to do with Olivia, right? I mean we know Kubiak works for Elizabeth, but what does that have to do with her friend, Katherine?

  • Why is Scott Foley always trapped in a love triangle? #teamnoel #teamjake

Lines I Love:

  • Jake - So now I'm innocent is what you're telling me? Good. Pleased to hear that. Should we each take turns hugging or how does this work exactly?

  • Olivia - I don't like you. You cut corners, you're mean to assistants, you never share credit and you lie. (Bosses of the world; take note!!!)

  • Cyrus - An eyeful for an eyeful, it's very Republican. It's almost biblical.

I can only imagine what jaw dropping cliffhanger Shonda has in store for us next week as we pine through the holidays waiting for more. It's going to be a long two months!
