This week's THANKSGIVING themed episode of SUPERGIRL introduced a shocking new villain named Livewire, played by Brit Morgan, and explored the complicated relationship between Kara, her sister Alex, and their mother Dr. Eliza Danvers, brilliantly played by Helen Slater.

The THANKSGIVING episode was moved up to air this week instead of next because the episode originally intended for this Monday contained a terrorist attack on National City. In light of the events in Paris on Friday, CBS decided to switch the episodes' order.

Kara and Alex have differing opinions on their mother's THANKSGIVING visit: while Kara is excited to see her foster mom, Alex is worried that she will be blamed for Kara becoming Supergirl. "She has always come down hard on me for not protecting you," Alex tells Kara who insists that she should tell her mother that she's devoted her life to protecting her little sister by being an agent of the DEO.

Meanwhile, a radio DJ at CatCo named Leslie Willis bashes SUPERGIRL for her attitude, outfit choices, and even her sexuality. (Winn's offended reaction to the insult to Supergirl's outfit is hilarious.) Cat calls Leslie into her office to tell her to avoid the topic of SUPERGIRL since she's trying to forge a relationship between National City's new superhero and CatCo. "If I could legally adopt her, I would," she quips. Does anyone else live for Cat's one-liners?

Leslie is upset about Cat, who is a mentor to her, telling her that her content should be more positive. Fed up with Leslie's arguments, Cat declares that she's switching her to traffic reporting.

When Kara finds out that Winn is planning on spending THANKSGIVING alone, she invites him to her house, much to his pleasure. She runs into James at a restaurant where she's picking up food and invites him to THANKSGIVING as well. But he reveals that he has plans with Lucy, who he seems quite happy with when she comes to join him. Sorry, Kara, it seems that even having super powers can't guarantee that you get the guy.

The helicopter Leslie is flying in for traffic coverage is having issues in the thunderstorms over National City. It's struck by lightning and begins to spin out, but luckily SUPERGIRL is able to rescue the pilot when he falls out. She flies back and grabs the helicopter before it can crash into a building, but lightning strikes Leslie through her before she can save her.

Leslie is in a coma from the lightning strike, but she's well taken care of in a huge hospital room that Kara reveals Cat Grant is paying for. As the two look upon Leslie whose hair color was changed by the lightning strike, it's clear that Cat actually feels bad about what's happened. Well, that's new, isn't it?

Once her visitors leave, Leslie wakes up from her coma, but is sparking like an electric eel. She escapes the hospital and is approached by a guy in an alleyway. When he tries to assault her, she electrocutes him...and clearly enjoys it.

With the storms still raging, Alex, Kara, Winn, and Eliza Danvers gather for THANKSGIVING dinner. Alex is in a terrible mood from her mother telling her that she does blame her for Kara becoming Supergirl. Way harsh! Kara tries to get everyone to say what they're thankful for, but gets a call from James. Winn is clearly heartbroken when Kara leaves the table to talk to him. On a side note, anyone else completely in love with Kara's apartment?

Alex finally admits to her mother that she's not a bioengineer like her, but rather an agent of the DEO. Eliza becomes very upset and Kara questions her, "You were always so much harder on her than me. Why?"

Kara goes to CatCo to meet up with Cat who is frustrated because her computer, phones, and TVs aren't working. Soon, Leslie comes over the TV screens and announces, "This is Leslie 2.0. Livewire." With her new powers, she can move through electronic devices. Kara quickly gets her SUPERGIRL on and tries to fight her, but they appear to be an even match.

Cat refuses to relocate to a safer place, so Kara has Henshaw and his agents put some security into place for the building. Cat and Kara have a heart to heart in which Kara explains that her parents were killed when she was young. Cat seems genuinely sad for her and even tells her that her mother never thought she was good enough. "She was never satisfied with me, so I'm never satisfied with myself," she confesses and adds that she caused Leslie to turn into Livewire by pushing her too hard. Clearly, there's more to Cat Grant than her Miranda Priestly-esque exterior.

Meanwhile, mother and daughter are finally speaking. Alex and her mother make up and when Alex gets a call from the DEO, Eliza says, "Take care of your sister" before correcting herself and adding, "Take care of yourself."

Henshaw gives Kara a device to help catch Leslie that will weaken her powers. Cat Grant broadcasts over the radio, asking Leslie to meet her "where it all began." The two arrive on the spot and Leslie and Cat argue. The best line of the whole episode may be Cat's insult to Leslie: "You have the wit of a Youtube comment."

SUPERGIRL arrives to fight Livewire, but it appears that Leslie might actually win. When Cat distracts the electric villain, Kara finds a hose and sprays water on Livewire. Sometimes, you don't need fancy gadgets or superhuman strength to fight a battle: just a basic knowledge of science.

The next day at the office, Kara brings Winn containers full of THANKSGIVING dinner and apologizes for her family's fighting. Winn reveals that his dad is in prison, so he was grateful just to be included in a family event. Then he adds, "What I'm grateful for is you" and kisses Kara on the cheek. I absolutely melted! However, Kara walks off to talk to James and Lucy...the love rhombus intensifies.

I have to admit: I was proud of Cat when she announced that instead of publishing tabloid gossip, she wanted a photo essay of people who volunteered on Thanksgiving. She tells Kara, "There's a lot I don't know about you and that should probably change." I'm definitely looking forward to more Kara and Cat bonding.

The episode ends with a shocking revelation. Alex's father, Jeremiah Danvers, made a deal with the DEO that if he worked for them, they wouldn't take Kara away from the family. Eliza tells the girls that he died while working for a man named Hank Henshaw...the girls vow to figure out what happened to their dad. Turns out I was right about Henshaw being shady after all.

Is Henshaw a good guy or a villain? Will Kara and James actually get together? Do you want more Cat and Kara bonding?
