I have waited and waited for the Tamra vs. Morgan battle to begin and tonight my wish was granted. As much as I adore Mindy and Danny, the supporting characters on this show are equally if not more, entertaining and tonight's episode was a shining example of this fact.

Mindy has arrived in Palo Alto for her first day at Stanford for her fellowship. (Although, we LA locals certainly know what that campus really is... IT'S UC SUNNYDALE!) Despite Danny's offer to help her schmooze her new professor, an old friend of his, Mindy is determined to do this on her own. However, misinterpreting a flyer for a seminar for a mixer makes a bad impression on her new professor and new classmates. Mindy cashes in on Danny's offer and the two double date with the Professor and his wife, Barb. (Guest stars Tate Ellington and Ana Gasteyer). The Professor reconsiders his first impression and offers her a job to assist him. Danny is proud and Barb is impressed at how much he cares for Mindy and provides him with, well, let's call it an "under the table massage." Danny, thinking it's Mindy, enjoys it. Upon discovery of the true identity of the phantom foot, Mindy is forced to tell the Professor about his wandering wife. She also tells him she wants to earn her place, not be given it earning not only the Professor's respect, but also her classmates.

Back in NYC, Morgan has put together a charity basketball game to raise money for IBS. With Danny backing out, he invites Peter to join the team. Once Tamra meets Morgan's new girlfriend, she backs out as well and starts her own team to crush them. Morgan is forced to include Jeremy who knows nothing about basketball to play against Tamra. And angry Tamra is what I've been waiting for as she takes her anger out on the court embarrassing Morgan's team. It takes Peter pulling her aside to remind her the game is for charity for her to snap out of vengeance mode and see the big picture. I have rewatched this basketball game a few times now and it is chock full of so many vintage moments for this cast, I couldn't stop smiling. From Beverly being a bookie in the stands to Jeremy thinking the "Timeout" signal meant he was tired to Peter unsuccessfully guarding Yeardly Smith, it was just a classic memorable scene for THE MINDY PROJECT.

After only a few week's hiatus, this show came back with a bang. I'm hoping this isn't the last we see of the Professor and his wife. I don't know how many episodes Mindy will be at Stanford, but we met a lot of characters that will be interesting to see in the coming weeks.

Lines I Love:

  • Mindy - Can't help but feel it's like the first day of college again. Will it be like FELICITY? Who will be my Noel? Who will be my Ben? Who will be my Greg Grunberg?

  • Danny - You love nepotism! The other day you said "Wouldn't it be easier if the next President was just this President's kid?"

  • Tamra - I'm out there hugging barefoot Appalachian kids and you're dating a Jerrsica?

  • Morgan - Do they have more points? Yes. Do they have more skills? Yes. But do they have more heart? YES! And that is why we're gonna leave right now.

  • Mindy - I had to sacrifice a lot too, like Neepa or Pramood or Gamora or Groot or Rocket the Racoon. Rob - I think some of those are Guardians of the Galaxy. Mindy - And some of them aren't, Rob!

Well, nice try Jess and Ryan (NEW GIRL), but Danny and Mindy are still the cutest couple on TV. Their relationship is relatable and has its flaws, but they stick together even when they fight. I am happy that this couple has lasted the test of time. Will they last the test of distance? I guess we'll see. Only slightly in second place? Morgan and Tamra. I doubt we've seen the last of these two crazies, thank goodness. Too much is never enough! There was a hint for Tamra and a new relationship toward the end, but I'll still hold out hope for the return of Rayron.

Also, is there a chance we could have a DVD extra mockumentary of Tamra on her Habitat for Humanity trip in Appalachia? I can't be the only person who wants to see that, right? Just a suggestion.

Anyone else remember the Professor as creepy Gareth's brother Alex at Terminus? #thewalkingdead
