Finally, after a three week hiatus, NEW GIRL returns. As we start to see some inklings of what may be in store for us in the Season Four finale next week, I have to admit, I got a tad bit misty-eyed toward the end glimpsing at what may be coming down the pipe.

Coach and new girlfriend, May, have broken up. Coach tells everyone that he is fine, but it is Jess who has trouble believing him. And even though he is showing signs that she's right, like breaking down into tears in a health class he's teaching, Winston and Nick have been through many breakups with their pal. They know he's all right.

The boys take Coach out for their usual breakup tradition of getting drunk and then getting Coach to hook up with a new girl. While Jess insists there is something more going on, May shows up at the house. She winds up crying to Jess that she doesn't want it to be over, but she can't pass up her new job in New York. When Jess and Cece deliver May to the bar to confess her true feelings, they arrive just in time to see Coach about to hook up with a new girl. Coach finally confesses to Jess and Nick that he is in love with May. Upon revealing this to May, she asks him to move to New York (or Jersey City) and he accepts.

Fawn has decided to throw Schmidt under the bus to the Press regarding her panty mishap at the Golf Charity tournament. Schmidt decides finally that he doesn't want to be a power couple in name only, he wants to be madly in love with someone and Fawn is just not that person. He decides to end their relationship, but not before he takes the blame for the scandal and promises her he'll vote for her. Meanwhile, Cece who is at her wits end over her love for Schmidt, decides to climb Mt. Shasta to find herself. Jess encourages her to go.

So a lot of things are being setup for the finale next week and I'm assuming there will be at least one, if not many cliffhangers since we all know NEW GIRL will definitely be back for Season Five.

First, Cece and Schmidt. They've kind of been clobbering us over the head with this one all year. Cece's unrequited love for Schmidt, Schmidt looking past it because he thinks she'll never love him again. It's very gimmicky and sitcom cliche, but I love it just the same and am dying for these two to give it a real go. Is Schmidt going to get to her in time before she goes on this crazy journey or is he literally going to have to climb a mountain to get to her?

Second, Winston. Does he have a chance with this Casey? Can our poor LAPD roommate finally find someone to love him?

Third, Coach. Is this really the last we will see of our beloved Ernie? I am happy he found love, but he really is intregral to our group. Unfortunately, that's the way life is. Sometimes, there's a point where you have to leave your friends behind and find your future. That was a really tender moment at the end as he looked around the room at his roommates arguing over silly things and he just smiled and without saying a word, he knew how much he would miss them.

And lastly, Nick and Jess. In Nick's impromptu counseling session with Coach asking him to picture who he wants beside him in 20 years, did Nick do some looking too? Is he seeing Jess? Is Jess seeing him? Are they finally realizing that they are inevitable? Infinite, even? It sure seemed like an awkward moment in the recording booth. Did they both realize it at the same time?

Will all these questions be answered on next week's finale or will we be made to suffer for five months until we find out the answers?

Lines I Love:

  • Nick - You treat an outside wound with rubbing alcohol, you treat an inside wound with drinking alcohol. Science.

  • Fawn - This is the real me. I'm a politician, not in the Vagina Monologues.

  • Schmidt - I wanna be crazy in love. Fawn - Certainly don't quote Beyonce and then pretend like you just thought of it. Schmidt - I wanna be drunk in love. Fawn - That's also a Beyonce lyric.

  • Winston - Hey, you seen my white friends?
