Tonight is a Super Moon and how fitting as the TEEN WOLF Mid-Season finale answers all of our questions. Right? Sadly, no. But we did get a long-awaited confrontation in the form of a crazy battle and the death (?) of a main character.

Warning: SPOILERS AHEAD! Read at your own risk.

For weeks it has been teased that a major character would die in the mid-season finale, and as the episode went on, I started getting nervous for Sheriff Stiles and Deputy Fawkes Parrish. As it turns out, it was just that; a tease.

I'm going to wager a guess that the Temple Tezcatlipoca isn't on the "Must See" lists for Mexican tourism. This is the place where Kate was dubbed "La Loba" aka "The Bone Woman" and where she learned to control the Berzerkers. We found out tonight that she can also create them; enter Scott, the Berzerker. Kira is instantly aware of the transformation as she sees Scott's tattoos.

Against the Sheriff's wishes, the entire gang including Peter, head South of the Border to save Scott and Kira. Enroute, Derek tries to teach Liam how to control his transformation, but it is Stiles who comes through with the good old "the sun, the moon and the truth" chant to keep him calm. Presto! Liam is in control. Good thing, because Derek doesn't even get out the door of the car before he is attacked by a Berzerker and mortally wounded.

Stiles, Peter, Malia and Liam head inside to save Scott and Kira. The Sheriff calls Stiles (We get it, Samsung!!!!) and even though he is furious, he agrees to go to the school to help Mason and Lydia. It seems that they are being trapped there by another Berzerker to keep Lydia from revealing to the gang that they are about to kill Scott. He arrives in time and blows up the Berzerker.

Back in the temple, Liam, Malia and Peter do their best to kill the Berzerker/Scott. Kira is injured but teaches herself to heal with her Foxy powers and as Stiles rescues her, she informs him that Scott is the Berzerker they are all trying to kill. Stiles and Kira arrive in time to stop them. Scott attacks Liam, but Liam is able to see through the mask and snap Scott out of the spell. The student has become the teacher.

Outside, Braeden and the gang try to fight off Kate when The Calaveras Cartel, Deputy Parrish and Chris Argent arrive to assist. Oh, and Derek dies. DEREK DIES! What?!? Oh my, oh me...j/k, he's not dead. I mean he dies for a hot second and then evolves into a full-fledged wolf and attacks Kate. Chris is able to fire off a shot with the mystery yellow liquid that doesn't kill her but does defeat her.

And finally, we get the battle we've been waiting for; Scott vs. Peter. As Scott drops his Berzerker ensemble, he confronts Peter that it was HE who has been teaching Kate and manipulating everyone. And the fight begins. It is massive, it is in slow motion, it is epic. Peter has the upper hand until the Alpha kicks in, and Scott overpowers him. "You were never an Alpha, Peter, but you were always a monster." Oh, snap!

They leave us with a couple setups for the next half of the season: Chris is now with the Calaveras Cartel, Braeden is obsessed with the Desert Wolf, Stiles is handcuffed to his father's desk for leaving the country without permission, the Coach is putting Scott and Stiles in charge of Liam and Peter is now stuck in Eichen with Dr. Valak aka the guy with the hole in his head.

Here's What I Know:

  • I'm very happy Derek Hale is still alive. I really didn't have any doubt that he would survive. I am also very happy that he evolved into a naked wolf.

  • I think either Peter or Kate should have died. And I really like hating Peter, so Kate would have been okay. It just felt a LITTLE too simple that everyone would be brutally attacked and nobody died. That's just not life in Beacon Hills.

  • Poor Malia. She's going to be in therapy for years.

  • Scott needs to take Kira on a way better second date.

  • I'm sensing some chemistry between Parrish and Lydia.

  • Liam and Scott SERIOUSLY need to watch the Star Wars trilogy. Blasphemy.

Here's What I Don't Know:

  • Really with the Desert Wolf again? Is this the new Big Bad for the second part of Season Four?

  • Sheriff Stiles made his displeasure known of the kids road trip, but Mama McCall was none the wiser? I find that hard to believe.

  • Is Mason finally clued in to the supernaturals of Beacon Hills or is he going to be the resident Matt Donovan for another season?

  • Can Derek and Braeden actually be happy together? He doesn't have the best track record, nor does anyone in Beacon Hills. (Run, Braeden, run!)

  • Uh, what happened to all that money?

  • I still don't understand the whole Benefactor thing. It was Meredith? Acting out Peter's thoughts? Through a super computer? What the...?

Lines I Love:

  • Stiles - We would have to freeze you in Carbonite to get you down there. Liam - OK. Where do we get Carbonite? (Frustrated pause) Stiles - Seriously? You haven't seen it either?
  • Liam - For a minute there I thought I was gonna tear the two of you apart. Stiles - Yeah that would've made for an awkward ride home, so thanks.
  • Coach - I've had experiences south of the border that would knock the genitals off you boys.

It was action-packed, yes, but somehow I just don't feel overly satisfied. I guess after last year's heart-wrenching death of Allison Argent, you start expecting more from the finales. The battle scene between Scott and Peter was great and Derek's new and improved powers were great but it was a little too neat for Beacon Hills. There's no burning cliffhanger that is going to be driving my nuts over the next few months. But that does not mean I won't be coming back.

So that's all for now. I'm assuming they'll come back sometime in the winter as they did last year even though no formal date has been announced yet. In the meantime, remember, "Three things cannot be long hidden; the sun, the moon and the truth."

And if that can't hold you, how about this?
