BWW Exclusive: First Look at Audra McDonald on OPRAH: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

On this week's episode of OPRAH: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?, Broadway and TV star Audra McDonald has won six Tony Awards, more than any other actor, yet reveals a path to stardom that was anything but smooth. Audra talks candidly about depression and her attempted suicide while attending Julliard, how she nearly left New York before getting her first big role, and what she finds most challenging about acting for television versus Broadway.

Also on the episode, at 16, Mackenzie Phillips was already headed to the top in Hollywood, a spot she sealed starring in the sitcom "One Day At a Time." A constant struggle with drugs and alcohol, introduced to her at age ten by famous dad John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, has repeatedly gotten her into trouble and, in 2009, she stated in her tell-all biography "High On Arrival" and on the "Oprah" Show, that her father had raped her when she was 19, which began a 10+ year consensual sexual relationship between them. Oprah sits down with Mackenzie now, more than five years after the book came out, and they talk in depth about Mackenzie's drug and alcohol abuse, what she thinks brought it out in her and what she has done with her life as a result. Mackenzie reveals what finally put an end to the affair with her father, and reflects on how the book affected her family relationships, and how she might have done things differently.

Then, Jose Canseco, the Oakland Athletics home run king, checks in on his life today, ten years after he blew the lid off major league baseball in the autobiography in which he declared a history of performance enhancing drug use, and named other players as well. Jose talks openly about the struggle his enormous fame was for him at just 24 years of age, his many arrests and his renewed passion for baseball today.
