Today we kick off a new BroadwayWorld spotlight series on the stars, shows and special events bringing together the worlds of stage and screen as they happen, highlighted by copious clips and pertinent information on the particularly properties, titled BROADWAY BOUND! For the first entry in this new series, we shine a light on the headliners from highly-praised recent drama series DAMAGES who both will be appearing on the Great White Way this season in hotly anticipated revivals of classic plays - Glenn Close and Rose Byrne!

When They Are Through With Us

"When I am through with you / There won't be anything left," the haunting and evocative theme song of the acclaimed, multi-award-winning drama series DAMAGES reminded viewers each week. Surely, such was certainly the case with the dueling legal eagles at the core of the dark and mystery-packed series - multi-award-winning acting icon Glenn Close as the hard-as-nails attorney Patty Hewes and her plucky protégé, Ellen, portrayed by versatile performer Rose Byrne. While the two stars shone brightly in their respective roles on the show, it was the palpable rapport shared by the talented twosome in their most memorable scenes together throughout the run that made for the meat and potatoes of the inherent drama - and subsequent enjoyment to be experienced, particularly for the theatre enthusiasts among us.

Undoubtedly, the terse and tense second season in particular was overflowing with theatrical mise en scene as framed by the gun-toting and bloody dramatic duel between Patty and Ellen that provided the dramatic and thematic spine of that particular tale. Plus, who could forget the requisite dock-set closing sequence shared by the two leading ladies that provided the coda to each and every one of the five seasons, as well? Well, almost.

Then, too, Close and Byrne especially excelled in the final season, which provided the accomplished thespians with ample fodder with which to utilize in their masterful portrayals of the complex and difficult-to-predict lawyer protagonists. Case in point: who will ever be able to forget the impossibly claustrophobic and compelling airport-set episode which found Patty and Ellen snowbound and alone with only an unattended bar to keep the feuding foes company? Not only was it a master class in acting, but a virtual one-act play in and of itself.

So, now, in the 2014-2015 season, Close returns to her theatrical roots byway of a new revival of Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama A Delicate Balance (Tickets & Info) sharing the stage with John Lithgow and Martha Plimpton, while Byrne makes her Broadway debut in the intriguing, multi-racially cast revival of the Golden Age George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart-penned theatrical classic YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU (Tickets & Info), led by James Earl Jones.
