Out.com reports that a reboot of the 1967 classic THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS may be in the works at 20th Century Fox. According to the site, the project will star Madonna, Jennifer Lawrence, and Anne Hathaway as the fictional trio Anne Welles, Helen Lawson, and Jennifer North. Emmy Rossum is also reportedly in talks to take on the role of Neely O'Hara.

The original film was based on Jacqueline Susann's book of the same name and centers on the show business careers of three women. This updated version of the story will center on Hollywood's current music industry. Paul Rudnick will pen the film, which is being described as a dark comedy.

Directed by Mark Robson, the original VALLEY OF THE DOLLS starred Barbara Parkins, Patty Duke, Sharon Tate, Paul Burke, Martin Milner and Susan Hayward. The movie was remade in 1981 for television as Jacqueline Susann's Valley of the Dolls.
