According to Variety, Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal are being courted to star in fashion designer Tom Ford's NOCTURNAL ANIMALS thriller.

Based on Austin Wright's novel TONY AND SUSAN, the movie is described as a "story inside a story" -- "the first part following a woman named Susan who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband, a man whom she left 20 years earlier, asking for her opinion. The second element follows the actual manuscript, called 'Nocturnal Animals,' which revolves around a man whose family vacation turns violent and deadly. It continues to follow the story of Susan, who finds herself recalling her first marriage and confronting some dark truths about herself."

Ford will write, direct and produce with Smokehouse Pictures' George Clooney and Grant Heslov. The designer's first project as film director was 2009's A SINGLE MAN, starring Colin Firth.

Oscar nominee Adams will soon appear in STORY OF YOUR LIFE and BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Among her recent big screen credits are BIG EYES, LULLABY, AMERICAN HUSTLE, HER, MAN OF STEEL and more.

Gyllenhaal's upcoming film projects include EVEREST, SOUTHPAW and DEMOLITION. He last starred in the much-lauded NIGHTCRAWLER and just finished a Broadway run opposite Ruth Wilson in MTC's CONSTELLATIONS. The actor also recently starred off-Broadway in IF THERE IS I HAVEN'T FOUND IT YET.
