TMZ.com Reports that AMERICAN IDOL season eight winner Kris Allen and his pregnant wife Katy were involved in a head-on car collision on New Year's Day. According to the report, the singer suffered a broken arm from the accident while his wife suffered 'some injuries.' The couple's dog Zorro, also in the car, appears to have come out of the incident unharmed.
Allen's mom, Kimberly, shared that the singer was in pain and may not be able to play guitar for awhile. Kris himself posted on Twitter, "Thank you @Ford for equipping me with a car that kept my while family safe ... and the little one WE have on the way safe."
Allen's Idol coronation song, "No Boundaries" and his version of "Heartless" both charted within the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. Allen's post-Idol self-titled album was released on November 17, 2009, through 19 Recordings and Jive Records. The album debuted at number Eleven on the U.S. Billboard 200.
The album's lead single, "Live Like We're Dying", was released on September 21, 2009, and peaked at number eighteen in the U.S. with combined sales of over 1.7 million. Allen's second major-label album Thank You Camellia was released on May 22, 2012, and the lead single "The Vision of Love" was released March 26, 2012.
