According to The Hollywood Reporter, several performances of the American Idol summer tour have been canceled. The cancellations are a result of low ratings from thr past season of the singing competition.

19 Entertainment announced on Friday, May 30, that nine dates on the tour, which usually features contestants from the latest season, will be canceled or rescheduled.

Said a representative for the tour, "Due to production scheduling changes, the American Idol 2013 Tour will now begin on July 19th and go through the summer until August 31st. The Idols look forward to performing in 30 venues across the country."

Affected city stops for the North American tour, which was originally due to launch on June 29, include St Louis, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Detroit, Tulsa, Broomfield, Las Vegas and Oakland. Following the finale of this season of the show, tour organizer Jared Paul expressed concerns over the tour success. "You have to match the public's interest," Paul explained. "Whether somebody will part with their hard-earned money is all talent-dependent."

The American Idol Live! 2013 tour will feature season 12 champion Candice Glover, as well as Amber Holcomb, BurNell Taylor, Kree Harrison, Aubrey Clealand, Curtis Finch Jr and Devin Velez.
