ABC has officially given the greenlight to the Once Upon a Time spin-off, centered around Alice and the wondrous goings-on in Wonerland.

Though originally believed to be designed as a full series, Zap2It reports that the network has instead ordered a slimmed down version of Once Upon a Time IN WONDERLAND. The series will air as a limited-run, connecting the events of season three from the fall to the spring.

The spin-off comes from ONCE's original creators, Eddy Kitsis and ADAM HOROWITZ, along with writer-producer team Zack Estrin and Jane Espsenson.

Once Upon a Time IN WONDERLAND is described as: "In Victorian England, the young and beautiful Alice (Sophie Lowe, "Beautiful Kate") tells a tale of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole. An invisible cat, a hookah smoking caterpillar and playing cards that talk are just some of the fantastic things she's seen during this impossible adventure. Surely this troubled girl must be insane and her doctors aim to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget everything. Alice seems ready to put it all behind her, especially the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever -- the handsome and mysterious Cyrus (Peter Gadiot, "The Forbidden Girl"). But deep down Alice knows this world is real and just in the nick of time, the sardonic Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha, "This Is England") and the irrepressible White Rabbit (voiced by John Lithgow, "Third Rock From The Sun") arrive to save her from a doomed fate. Together, the trio will take a tumble down the rabbit hole to this Wonderland where nothing is impossible. Emma Rigby ("Hollyoaks") also stars as antagonistic Queen of Hearts."
