ABC Cancels LIFE ON MARS

Variety is reporting that ABC has canceled Life On Mars, but will allow the police drama to complete its full one-season run. The network decided not to extend the series beyond 17 episodes.

Life On Mars has featured many Broadway actors during its short run including Tony winner Laura Benanti and Cheyenne Jackson.

Five more episodes of "Life on Mars" remain out of the series' 17-episode original order.

Life On Mars is an American television series aired by ABC and co-produced by Kudos Film & Television, 20th Century Fox Television and ABC Studios, about a New York City homicide detective who suddenly finds himself inexplicably transported from 2008 to 1973. The series was adapted from the British series of the same name shown by the BBC.

The series debuted October 9, 2008 on ABC. Life On Mars airs Wednesday nights at 10:00PM Eastern/9:00PM Central following Lost.
