2015 NHL WINTER CLASSIC Airs New Year's Day on NBC

NBC presents one of the most iconic events in sport on New Year's Day in our nation's capital when Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals host Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2015 NHL Winter Classic from Nationals Park, home of Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals, on Jan. 1, 2015, at 1 p.m. ET.

NHL LIVE host Liam McHugh will be on-site at Nationals Park alongside former players and analysts Mike Milbury, Keith Jones and Jeremy Roenick to provide pre-game and post-game analysis, as well as commentary during intermissions. Weather Channel on-camera meteorologist and storm tracker Jim Cantore will be on-site in Washington D.C., providing updates from the stadium, as well as live reports from various national historical sites and monuments.

In addition, NBC's intermission coverage will include a feature on Blackhawks forwards Patrick Kane andJonathan Toews, and a look back at some of the best moments in Winter Classic history.

NBC Sports Group begins its Winter Classic coverage this Wednesday, New Year's Eve, at 8 p.m. ET with a marathon of EPIX Presents Road to the NHL Winter Classic™ on NBCSN, leading into NBC's game coverage on New Year's Day.

This week's NHL coverage begins tonight at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Jimmy Howard and the Detroit Red Wings visit Tuukka Rask and the Boston Bruins. Coverage continues on NBCSN on Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET, when the Blackhawks play host to NHL-leading goal scorer Tyler Seguin and the Dallas Stars.

NHL pre-game coverage on NBCSN begins with NHL LIVE tonight at 6:30 p.m. ET, and 7 p.m. ET on Sunday night. McHugh will anchor tonight's coverage alongside Roenick and Anson Carter, and will host on Sunday night with Milbury and Jones.

NBCSN's coverage of the 2014-15 COLLEGE HOCKEY season continues Saturday at 7 p.m. ET, when the No. 1 Boston University Terriers host the 2014 NCAA national champion Union College Dutchmen.
