Below, check out the first trailer for THE DANISH GIRL, starring Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne in his role as s transgender pioneer Einar Wegener, later known as Lili Elbe. The film hits theaters on Friday, November 27.

Set in the 1920s, the film is described as "a love story about how Wegener, a painter, was persuaded by his wife Gerda Wegener (played by Alicia Vikander), who was also an artist, to pose for her in women's clothes after one of her models failed to show. In time, he became Lili and started on the transformation into a woman."

Redmayne won the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING. The actor is noted for his performances in My Week with Marilyn, LES MISERABLES and The Theory of Everything, the last of which received critical praise was awarded with the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Drama, the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role (SAG), and the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
