The Opera Dinner Comes to Martha's Vineyard Tonight

If Opera be the Food of Love, Eat On, starring Chef Matthew Passaclacqua of Lure Grill & Wendy Taucher Dance Opera Theater. The Opera Dinner will be presented tonight, October 19th, 2013 at the Winnetu Oceanside Resort - Lure Grill (31 Dunes Road Edgartown, MA 02539). The evening combines opera classics, great food, in a lovely setting for this unique cabaret-style event. This special event is a part of the annual Martha's Vineyard Food & Wine Festival - a celebration of sea, farm and vine (October 17-20, 2013).

Chef Matthew Passachlacqua has collaborated with Wendy Taucher Dance Opera Theater, creating a delectable sequence of food, wine pairings (t b a), fancy and song. The entertainment is paced throughout the evening as four singers perform operatic showpieces and comic turns. The versatile, virtuosic and entertaining singers of WTDOT hail from the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera and Lincoln Center. Don't miss this intimate, convivial, musical, gourmet feast.

An elegant five-course meal will be served, with entertainment between courses. The reception begins at 6:30 pmand the dinner and entertainment starts at 7:00 pm. Wendy Taucher Dance Opera Theater is a production company presenting the work of artistic director Wendy Taucher and others. WT DOT is the host organization of World Choreography Institute. They are in residence at the Featherstone Center for the Arts on Martha's Vineyard and at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, Times Square, NYC where they will present this Fall Impresario Now: 90% Theater, 90% Musicale, Very Mozart Most of the Time. At the Beechman, WT DOT is a company-in-residence, and for the next three seasons, will present new and chamber operas.

Wendy Taucher director, choreographer, and author is known for directing operas as diverse as Madama Butterflyto La Nozze De Figaro, her work highlights great singing with unique acting and movement performances. She is collaborating with Professor Jessica Harris on Uprising, a new opera/theater work based on the German Coast slave revolt in 1811 near New Orleans and creating a solo dance for Zimbabwean dancer Nora Chipaumire. Ms. Taucher is Executive Producer of Scow: The Zen of Boat Building, a featured length documentary film by Greg & Dan Martino of Martha's Vineyard Productions. She is artistic director of World Choreography Institute. The Institute's mission is to "advocate and educate" professionals, students and the public interested in the art of choreography from ballet to modern to Broadway. Participants include Edward Villella, David Dorfman, Lynne Taylor-Corbett, Norton Owen and Karin Plantandit. Ms. Taucher has created popular choreography lecture demos, and The Othello Project with Carla Maxwell for the Jose Limon Dance Company. She gives choreography workshops for dance organizations such as Ballet Jazz de Montreal, Paul Taylor 2, and London's BalletBoyz. She has directed and/or choreographed over fifty concert, opera, and theater works performed at theatres in the U.S and Europe and collaborated with Carly Simon on a full-length dance work starring Polly Styron. She is an author of numerous books, kids' plays, and DVDs for Person Education/Silver Burdett and was a long-time teaching artist for Lincoln Center Institute. In the past two years she has produced Sondheim in the City, Andre de Sheild's Black by Popular Demand, Gianni Schich with Opera Noire Of New York & L'Italiana Re-Mix: Rossini's take on love, sex & disaster, in English & Italian condensed.
