Opera Delaware Participates in Giving Tuesday Today

For the next week, we have a day for giving thanks and two days for getting shopping deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. Today, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity.

It's a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us in this new global tradition.

This year - all dollars raised through #GivingTuesday for OperaDelaware will be used to support the Neighborhood Choir Initiative. Spearheaded by Kimberly Doucette, OperaDelaware's new Director of Education and Artistic Director of the Wilmington Children's Chorus, this program literally gives the gift of song to our community. TheNeighborhood Choir Initiative creates community choirs in under-served neighborhoods, teaching children the joys of music, collaboration and discipline. This season, the program has expanded to four neighborhood choirs in our community.
