Local and international artists will gather under the stars next February to perform at Opera Australia's annual Mazda Opera in the Domain on Saturday 1 February at 8:00pm. The free outdoor concert will feature popular arias from works by opera's greatest composers.

Brought to you by Opera Australia's Principal Partner Mazda Australia, which is committed to introducing opera to a wider audience, the evening concert celebrates the magic and memorable moments in opera.

Opera Australia's Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini says, "Mazda Opera in the Domain has become a staple in the Sydney summer calendar and what better way to spend a balmy evening than a night under the stars listening to a line-up of stunning soloists.

"We want as many people as possible to be part of the extraordinary experience that is opera and Mazda Opera in the Domain allows us to bring this wonderful art form to tens of thousands of opera lovers and newcomers."

The stage will light up with a dazzling line up of Opera Australia's favourite artists - including popular sopranos Lorina Gore and Daria Masiero; sensational mezzo?soprano Jacqueline Dark; debonair tenor Bradley Daley and charismatic baritone Shane Lowrencev.

The artists will be accompanied by the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra under the direction of conductor Brian Castles-Onion. With ABC Classic FM's Christopher Lawrence as the Master of Ceremonies, it has all the makings of a perfect evening.

About the event

Opera in the Domain has been an annual event since 1982, when Dame Joan Sutherland sang La Traviata. For the last eight years, Mazda Australia has been the Principal Sponsor and during the evening Mazda will present the keys to a brand new Mazda6 2.5L Petrol Touring Sedan to the winner of the Opera Australia subscription prize draw.

The concert will start at 8pm and finish at approximately 10.30pm. A range of food and beverages is available in the Domain from early afternoon to the end of the evening, or patrons can bring their own picnics. For the comfort of Mazda Opera in the Domain patrons, high chairs and beach umbrellas are not allowed and, to protect the lawn, plastic sheeting and ice are not permitted on the grass.
