The complete lineup for the Bard SummerScape Festival 2010 has been announced.  The festival will feature diverse events, including dance, theater, opera and operetta, film, cabaret, and music.

On July 30 and August 1, 4, and 6,  the Festival will present Franz Schrecker's opera THE DISTANT SOUND.  In the opera, Fritz, a composer, forsakes a woman's love for an imagined sound that is but the distant echo of her presence. The opera also explores how Grete, the composer's beloved, is exploited by the society she lives in and how she survives by retreating into her dreams.

The Festival will also feature performances by the Trisha Brown Dance Company of SoHo, the previously announced play JUDGEMENT DAY by Ödön von Horváth, a production of Arthur Strauss's operetta THE CHOCOLATE SOLDIER, a film festival focusing on director G. W. Pabst ('The Threepenny Opera'), a music festival focusing on composer Alban Berg, and various cabaret perfomers, including Broadway actress and comedienne Jackie Hoffman (currently appearing in THE ADDAMS FAMILY).
