According to The Hollywood Reporter, WICKED producer Marc Platt is among those behind an upcoming, currently untitled original musical comedy which has just been picked up by Universal. Musically-talented actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum are attached to star.

The site reports that the idea was the brainchild of Gordon-Levitt and Michael Bacall, with the latter set to pen the script. The duo first teamed up 15 years ago when Gordon-Levitt starred in "Manic", a drama Bacall co-wrote and appeared in. In addition, Bacall has previously worked with Tatum on the 21 Jump Street film franchise.

While little is known about the latest project, is it being described as "an R-rated musical comedy featuring two pilots on a misadventure."

As movie fans well know, Channing Tatum is no stranger to musicals, having appeared in the hit film STEP UP and the MAGIC MIKE franchise. His latest musical romp is in HAIL CAESAR! opening in theaters this weekend. The Coen Bros. latest project is a tribute to the glorious age of 1950's Hollywood musicals. In the film, Tatum tap dances and sings his way through a Gene Kelly-inspired number.

Similarly, Gordon-Levitt wowed movie audiences with his musical performance in (500) Days of Summer and has sang live on hitRECord performances. The actor is currently working on a big-screen remake of the 1980s musical puppet series Fraggle Rock.

The actors previously co-starred in 2005's HAVOC, a thriller featuring Anne Hathaway. They also joined forces in the 2008 war drama STOP-LOSS. In addition, the duo sang and danced together in a memorable OSCARS opening production number in 2013. Watch the video:
