Celebrate New Year's Eve in Dresden with Anna Netrebko and Juan Diego Florez; Airs 12/29 on medici.tv

New Year's Eve will be celebrated in high style on medici.tv with a free webcast of superstar soprano Anna Netrebko and tenor Juan Diego Flórez in Emmerich Kálmán's operetta Die Csárdásfürstin ("The Gypsy Princess"), with the Staatskapelle Dresden under Christian Thielemann. Filmed live on December 28 and then webcast by medici.tv the next day, the performance will be available for free viewing up to 90 days afterward.

Thielemann has called the Hungarian composer's 1915 operetta "a 20th-century masterpiece." Kálmán's music has been described as a blend of Hungarian soul and Viennese elegance, with Die Csárdásfürstin breaking records at Vienna's Johann Strauss Theater as his biggest popular success.

Anna Netrebko and Daniel Barenboim -- This 2010 recital from the Berliner Philharmonie replicates the all-Russian program from soprano Anna Netrebko's Deutsche Grammophon album In the Still of Night with pianist Daniel Barenboim, including songs by Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. Reviewing this "wonderful concert," Munich's Süddeutsche Zeitung said, "Netrebko and Barenboim cast a spell."

Gala Concert in St. Petersburg -- Celebrating the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg in 2003, this gala concert presents Anna Netrebko as a rising star, alongside charismatic baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky, cellist Mischa Maisky and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic under Yuri Temirkanov. Netrebko sings signature arias by Donizetti (from Lucia di Lammermoor) and Puccini (from La bohème), as well as teaming for a duet with Hvorostovsky.

Anna Netrebko: "The Woman, The Voice" -- This 2004 collection of videos traces the rise of the Russian soprano, born in 1971 and a protégé of Valery Gergiev. She so wanted to attend rehearsals at the Mariinsky Theater, so the story goes, that she worked there as a cleaner, and she gave her breakout performance as Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Salzburg Festival in 2002. Music from her debut Deutsche Grammophon album is showcased, including arias by Mozart, Gounod, Bellini, Dvorák and Puccini.
