Anna Netrebko has agreed to sing with the MET Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in the concert this Sunday afternoon, February 8, replacing Elna Garana, who has withdrawn due to illness. Garan?a is currently at the Met rehearsing the title role in Carmen, which she plans to sing as scheduled this Friday, but since she has been recovering from the flu she has been unable to take on the additional commitment of rehearsing and performing in this weekend's concert.

Netrebko will sing the "Song to the Moon" from Dvo?ák's Rusalka and Richard Strauss's "Cäcilie," rather than the originally scheduled Seven Early Songs by Berg. The remainder of the program, which is conducted by Met Music Director James Levine, will remain unchanged: Beethoven's Symphony No. 2, Carter's Three Illusions, and Schumann's Symphony No. 2.

Netrebko is currently at the Met to sing the title role in the company premiere of Tchaikovsky's Iolanta, which is being performed in a double bill with Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle. Valery Gergiev conducts both operas, which are directed by Mariusz Treli?ski in his Met debut. Iolanta/Bluebeard's Castle has five remaining performances, on February 7, 10, 14 matinee, 18, and 21.
