This December, the Amore Opera returns with Giacomo Puccini's beloved holiday favorite La Bohème directed by Nathan Hull and conducted by Jason Tramm with set design by Richard Cerullo. This fully staged production featuring the Amore Opera Orchestra opens on December 18th and runs for 8 performances through January 3rd at its new home The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture in New York City.

Puccini's La Bohème, based on a novel by Henri Murger, was first performed at the Teatro Regio, Torino on February 1, 1896. The story is set in Paris in the 1830s, and the principal male characters are four Bohemians, Rodolfo, a poet, Marcello, a painter, Schaunard, a musician and Colline, a philosopher, who live together in a small garret. They are firm friends who share everything between them, and manage to lead a life of gaiety and romance in spite of the hardships to which their poverty condemns them.

Now in its seventh season, the Amore Opera is continuing in its mission to entertain, educate and nurture music appreciation in youth, seniors and community members through affordable live performances of classical and overlooked operas, and provide a venue for a diversity of singers and musicians to perform in fully staged and orchestrated productions.

Amore Opera's production of La Bohème features four talented casts as well as a cover cast performance with piano. It runs concurrently with Amore Opera Academy's All Kids Production of Engelbert Humperdinck's treasured classic Hansel and Gretel.

Performances are at The Sheen Center, 18 Bleecker Street (at Elizabeth Street). Tickets for La Bohème are $40 for general admission and $30 for seniors, students and children. Tickets for the New Year's Eve Gala performance of La Bohème are $75. Tickets for Hansel and Gretel are $25. Tickets for all events are available by visiting Sheen Center website at: http://www.sheencenter.org/events/opera or by calling their box office at 212-925-2812.
