Denver, CO -- Opera Colorado announces that due to illness, Jay Hunter Morris has decided to withdraw from the production of Carmen.

"It is with great regret that we make this announcement. We all wish Jay a speedy recovery over the next few weeks," says Greg Carpenter, General Director.

Opera Colorado is pleased to announce that tenor Adam Klein, who recently sang the role of Don José with Atlanta Opera and Toledo Opera, has agreed to sing Don José with Opera Colorado for performances of Carmen today, May 3, 6, 9 and 11. Klein already knows the version of Carmen that Opera Colorado will perform, and he is currently in route from New York to Denver. Upon his arrival tonight, he will travel directly from Denver International Airport to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and straight into rehearsals.

"We have a truly spectacular cast for this production and with a few extra rehearsals over the next few days we will be set for a great opening next Saturday," stated General Director Greg Carpenter.

Adam Klein has performed many leading roles at the Metropolitan Opera including the Witch in Hansel and Gretel. He made his Opera Colorado debut in 1999 as Roméo in Roméo et Juliette. In 2010 Klein debuted as Tristan in Tristan und Isolde with Seattle Opera. The 2010 season also included performances as the title role in Faust with Opera Memphis, Loge in Das Rheingold with Indianapolis Opera and Herod in Salome with Toledo Opera.
