After a successful appearance at The Producer's Club in Manhattan and positive feedback on MDemo, the band's first recordings, Reverend Mary and the M Band, led by Mary Elizabeth Micari and Andrew Liebowitz will begin touring clubs, halls, and bars. The National GUITAR Museum announced that Buddy Guy, the pioneering electric blues guitarist who influenced a generation of rock guitarists, is the recipient of its 'Lifetime Achievement' Award for 2014. Buddy is the fifth recipient of the award, following David 'Honeyboy' Edwards in 2010, Roger McGuinn of The Byrds in 2011, B.B. King in 2012, and 'James Bond' guitarist Vic Flick in 2013. Shaun Derik is a nationally acclaimed youth empowerment speaker. His clients include the Ohio and Mississippi Departments of Education, National Police Activities League, Pride, FBLA and Big Brothers Big Sister of New York. Billboard Magazine honored Bob Benjamin and the Light of Day Foundation with the Humanitarian Award last night at the 2014 Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, honoring the concert industry's top artists, venues and professionals of the year. The 11th annual event was held at the Edison Ballroom in New York City and also featured an appearance by Lionel Richie to accept the Legend of Live Award, and a rousing performance by Kool & the Gang to close out the evening. Later tonight, The New York Pops - a symphonic orchestra known for presenting popular programs of exceptional quality - will launch its 32nd season at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage with All You Need is Love: The Music of The Beatles. Music Director Steven Reineke - described by The New York Times as a 'polished, welcoming host' who is 'young and vigorous, with a playful attitude' - will lead the orchestra in an opening night celebration of The Beatles' greatest hits recreated by the acclaimed Finnish vocal ensemble Rajaton. The concert will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fab Four's arrival in America. Concertgoers can expect to hear fresh renditions of Beatles songs including 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,' 'Yesterday,' 'She Loves You,' and 'Let It Be,' among others.
