Grupo Corpo are a Brazilian dance theatre company founded in 1975. The group was created in Belo Horizonte by Paulo Pederneiras. It is a contemporary dance company, which is typically Brazilian in its creations. During Corpo's history, it went through several changes in style and structure but has always maintained the common thread of using a Brazilian base to its dancing and music.
As magical and endearing as its home country of Brazil, Grupo Corpo last dazzled Mondavi Center audiences in a single performance in 2004. This time, the company returns for two full evenings showcasing the signature charm, wit, and talent that has made the company a runaway worldwide hit. Grupo Corpo blends ballet, modern dance, and Afro-Brazilian forms in a style all its own, performed by a young company of virtuoso dancers.
