JUANES - PAST CONCERTS

BIO:
Born in Medellin, Colombia, on August 9, 1972, Juanes was caught in the nets of music from an early age, influenced by found sounds from suburban music and tangos of Carlos Gardel, to Soda Stereo, to Led Zeppelin Silvio Rodríguez and Jimi Hendrix. During eight years he was a singer, guitarist and principal songwriter of the rock band Ekhymosis (1987-1999) with that produced five albums. His compositions reflect strictly personal experiences and themes ranging from love to the humor and double meanings, which further emphasizes the high social message of peace and disturbed the singer Juanes and who oppose the violence generated by the continuous fight in his native Colombia, as well as all the conflicts that mark the face of the earth, and highlights the love of family and respect for humanity as the road that will take us beyond the bitterness. Millions of fans of this poetic rocker adopted their compositions as anthems dedicated to Latino pride, hope for peace, and the power of love. Recently named one of the 100 most influential people by Time magazine, Juanes has devoted much time to his work as a whole, and in this respect his work goes far beyond the passionate lyrics of their songs. This can be determined by finding the many philanthropic causes he supports continuously. Thus, the work of his own foundation "My Blood" has been recognized internationally as one of the most active against the use of landmines, both in Colombia and in the rest of the world. addition to this work for the eradication of the deadly war devices, the Mi Sangre Foundation provides care and rehabilitation for people injured by landmines around Colombia. Juanes's crusade in favor of these victims led him to be the first artist to play a concert in the main hall of the parliament of the European Union, an event that brought a donation of two and a half million Euros. Committee also organized the very Colombia successful without landmines charity concert in Los Angeles, raised funds for the creation of the Peace Park in Medellin, with games specially adapted for individuals with disabilities, and served as keynote speaker during the Cartagena Summit for a world free of mines. By expanding in this way their mission, the Mi Sangre Foundation currently works in the area of early childhood development throughout Latin America. In addition to these specific efforts made ??by this organization, Juanes has won international recognition for his role as co-founder and promoter of the historic concert "Peace Without Borders", seeking to unite themselves ordinary citizens without distinction of nationality or ideology and promote the use of non-violent resolutions to resolve conflicts. Organized in just one week in 2008 in response to the growing tensions between Colombia and Venezuela, the first Peace Without Borders concert joined more than 200 000 spectators (and millions viewers) who gathered at the border between the two nations to demand an effort to maintain peace in the region. The second of these concerts took place in Havana on September 20, 2009, to coincide with the Day International Peace United Nations. There, one million 200 thousand young people crammed the Revolution Square in an impressive display of unity and hope in becoming "one Cuban family." The event received extensive media coverage around the world, and CNN called it "a huge success ... where Juanes won the affection of all the Cuban people", for its part, The Economist declared that day as a " watershed in the relationship between the U.S. and Cuba. " In recognition of outstanding work as philanthropic, Colombian President Juanes named "Ambassador of Colombia most important." The composer was also honored in 2005 by Sir Paul McCartney during the gala concert Adopt-a-Minefield, and soon after he was appointed Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic. The Organization of American States appointed him in 2008 as the humanitarian character of the year, and recently in Colombia was awarded the prestigious National Peace Prize, in a joint vote of the Program for the Development of Nations Programme (UNDP) and representatives of the Colombian media. Finally, Juanes has performed live twice in concert as part of the delivery of the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, and in 2009 along with Alicia Keys led the artistic program of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York. Obviously, all these messages of altruism would not be effective if the messenger did not have great popular appeal.
