Available at: http://www.greggrolie.com/main.html San Diego- Gregg Rolie's new album, ROOTS, connects thirty years of making music into a cohesive collection of 12 new songs. It takes you through familiar latino percussion and instrument driven rhythms made popular by Santana, with traces of Journey and The Storm filtering in. Gregg adds some new twists along the way that can be described as his "Gypsy Kings influence". Gregg was driven to use all of his writing and performing talents on this new CD. "I wanted something that was on the one hand, totally organic and relevant to my past, and on the other hand, in touch with current musical tastes. Gregg is internationally known for his work in Santana as its Co-founder, lead singer, keyboards, writer and co-producer of the first (4) albums. He was there at Woodstock and there for the sky rocket ascent that the Woodstock movie helped create for Santana. Songs you are sure to be familiar with are Black Magic woman and Evil Ways, from Abraxas, the second Santana album. Rolie went on to found the band JOURNEY in 1973 where he supplied lead vocals, keyboards, writing and co-producing talents for the first (7) records. In the late eighties and early nineties Gregg formed another band called The Storm. It's debut album produced a single "I've Got A Lot To Learn about love", propelling the group to number 13 on the Billboard top 100 and a BMI Top 100 Most Airplay award in 1993. Gregg was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1998 for his work in Santana.
