yMusic Lecture, Demonstration to Accompany Performance at Emory, 1/31
yMusic, the genre-defying ensemble shaping the future of classical music, performs at Emory University on Fri., Jan. 31, 2014 at 8 p.m. as part of the 2013-2014 Flora Glenn Candler Concert Series.
The group will also present a lecture and demonstration at 2 p.m. the same day in the Emerson Concert Hall at Emory's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts where they will discuss their process for developing new compositions, collaborating with other artists and groups, and how they have managed to carve out their own musical genre. The lecture and demonstration is free and open to the public.
"yMusic is thrilled to bring our music to Emory for the first time. Fresh off performances at the Sundance Film Festival and Indianapolis Symphony series, we'll perform selections from our debut album as well as our new, limited-edition vinyl EP "Year of the Dragon"," said Rob Moose, yMusic violinist. "Audience members will also be some of the first people to hear new compositions by Nico Muhly, Andrew Norman, Marcos Balter and Timothy Andres."
Single concert tickets: $20; discount category members $16; and all students $5.
