Zoe Boekbinder Launches Kickstarter Campaign for 2014 European Tour

New Orleans-based singer-songwriter Zoë Boekbinder returns after a yearlong hiatus with a tour through Europe this spring/summer, which is being financed by a new Kickstarter campaign.

Boekbinder recently returned to touring, performing two shows as support for Ani DiFranco in Louisiana, and then a tour through Northern California with bandmates Dorota Szuta (violin) and Danah Olivetree (cello). The European tour will take her through eleven countries over twenty-five different dates. Boekbinder will bring Szuta and Olivetree, as well as multi-instrumentalist Taylor Ross as a backing band, and the quartet will play from late-April until Mid-June.

To promote the Kickstarter campaign, they've shared a new demo of "All Over Again" - a song written by Ken Blackburn for Boekbinder's upcoming Prison Music Project - a forth-coming collaborative project with people who are incarcerated at California's New Folsom Prison.

Boekbinder sings with a timeless, lived-in voice timbre that recalls vinyl records and old time speakeasies. Her songs are anchored by finger-picked acoustic guitar, but often she experiments with added instrumentation, either acoustic (string instruments) or electronic (loop pedals, distortion effects). Her last album - Darling Specimens - was widely lauded as a prime example of a folk artist redefining the genre. Zoë recently sat in with Amanda Palmer for a town hall discussion about the future of music, hosted by BitTorrent (more information here). She also finished her most recent musical project-100 songs in 100 days- in early January.

Zoë Boekbinder has shared the stage with folks like Amanda Palmer, Kaki King, Jeff Lewis and Neil Gaiman. Before launching her solo career, she spent five years recording and performing as Vermillion Lies - a folk/cabaret duo with sister Kim Boekbinder.
