For the first time in their history, Michael Johnathon and the WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour will host their live program in Europe, celebrating the return of Kentucky bluegrass music to its ancestral home on the Emerald Isle.

The one-night-only event tonight, July 18 at the Convention Centre Dublin in Ireland is being sponsored by Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, as part of Irish owner Dr. Pearse Lyons' support of The Gathering Ireland 2013. The tourism and economic initiative by the Irish government aims to draw all of the country's native sons and daughters back for a year of a celebration.

Since an Irish evening is not complete without a proper pint, tonight's festivities will begin at 7 p.m. with a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Aletasting before the 7:45 p.m. concert start. Produced and hosted by folksinger Michael Johnathan, WoodSongs boasts more than 1 million listeners on more than 500 radio stations globally and a U.S. television reach of 91 million. The Dublin concert will be produced as two shows for broadcast:

  • Show 1 will pay tribute to Ireland's rich musical heritage through Irish music legend Mary Black and songwriter Paul Brady.
  • Show 2 will spotlight the connection between traditional Irish music and American bluegrass, featuring We Banjo 3, Land's End Bluegrass Band, Niall Toner and more artists to be announced soon. Submissions are still being accepted from artists who want to appear on this broadcast, and they are encouraged to email radio@woodsongs.com for more information.

With only 1,500 tickets available, the evening will be an intimate experience. Tickets for the show may be purchased for only €11.75 from www.ticketmaster.ie or via phone at 011 353 (1) 6486029.
