VIDEO: President Obama Botches Spelling of Aretha Franklin's 'Respect'

This week, President Obama and the First Lady hosted "In Performance at the White House: Women of Soul" for music legends and contemporary major female artists at the White House, celebrating the great "foremothers" of American music, with songs expressing the struggles and achievements of women.

During the program, President Obama quoted Aretha Franklin's iconic song 'Respect', but got a bit confused over the correct spelling of the word, telling the audience, "When Aretha [Franklin] first told us what R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her, she had no idea it would become a rallying cry for African Americans, and women, and then everyone who felt marginalized because of what they looked like or who they loved. They wanted some respect."

The crowd chuckled at the mistake following the slip-up, but the President remained cool as a cucumber and continued on.
