VIDEO: Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett Visit Frank Sinatra School of the Arts
Grammy-winning singers Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, who have forged an unlikely team-up on a jazz album of duets 'Cheek to Cheek', which will be released this September, visited Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens, NY recently to talk to the students about pursuing their dream of careers in the arts. Cheek To Cheek features classic jazz standardssung byLady Gaga and Tony Bennett in acombination of vocal duets and soloperformances. Each song was handpicked by the artists, and the album features classic selections from the Great American Songbook including "Anything Goes," "It Don't Mean A Thing (If ItAin't Got That Swing)," "Sophisticated Lady," "Lush Life," and therecord's title track, "Cheek To Cheek."
Recorded in New York City, the recordtook over a year to complete and features jazz musicians associated with both artists including members of Bennett's quartet, Mike Renzi, Gray Sargent,Harold Jones and Marshall Wood as well pianist Tom Lanier. Jazz trumpeter Brian Newman, along-time friend and colleague of Lady Gaga appears on the album as well with his NYC based jazz quintet. Jazz soloists on selected tracks include tenor saxophonistJoe Lovano and flutist Paul Horn, who passed away earlier this month.
