Tyler Stenson is a rarely prolific independent singer/songwriter that has managed to make a name for himself in the trenches through pure hard work. Although he started writing music just 12 years ago, he is proudly breaking the mold of a typical local artist, as he will be self-releasing an impressive tenth studio album, Some Days I'm a Lion, at the historic Aladdin Theater in Portland, OR on Friday October 19, 2012.

While it's easy to think that an artist must care more about quantity than quality in order to create ten albums in as many years, the fact that Stenson has been twice-named "Songwriter of the Year" by the Portland Songwriters Association (2007 and 2008) and "Best Male Artist" at the 2011 Portland Music awards is proof that he takes great pride and care in his craft.

"I've always been about creating with purpose," says Stenson about his detail-oriented approach. "I'm not the type who writes 50 throw-away songs, then pares that down into my strongest 12 for an album – I'm pretty cut-throat from the beginning within my creative process. I'm always writing with an album in mind so, if it's not album worthy from the start, I don't even pursue it."

Standing as his boldest release yet, Some Days I'm a Lion is a motivational anthem as much as it is an album title. Inspired by Stenson's two-year stint as a singer/songwriter in Nashville, the 12-track LP is surely Stenson's most upbeat and optimistic release to date, touching on the up-and-down tribulations of a working musician, overcoming uncertainty, believing in self and loving fearlessly.

"I can say with every confidence that this one is my best one yet." Stenson says about his upcoming release. "They've all been strong in individual ways but this is an album that uses all of the tools I've gathered over the years and finally wields them all at once."

With this resounding confidence surrounding him, Stenson will be following up his former sold-out CD release events at The Doug Fir Lounge, Secret Society and Lola's Room at the Crystal Ballroom with a full-scale album release concert event at the legendary Aladdin Theater. Sponsored by 101.9 KINK, this is an "all ages" evening where admission includes a free copy of the album and the lesson that while some days our spirits might crawl, Some Days I'm a Lion.

Tyler Stenson is an active singer/songwriter in Portland, OR that is increasingly known for his unique brand of elegant folk music. Now back from spending nearly two years in Nashville, he has been twice-named the "Songwriter of the Year" by the Portland Songwriters Association, "Best Male Artist" at the 2011 Portland Music Awards, has opened for Chris Isaak at the Oregon Zoo, has performed on OPB's Live Wire! Radio and has landed multiple songs on national Chevrolet ad campaigns in 2012.
