The Civic Arts Plaza presents Motown legends THE TEMPTATIONS in concert at the Fred Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 8:00 pm.

For more than fifty years The Temptations have propelled popular music with a series of smash hits and sold-out performances throughout the world. Their concert at the Civic Arts Plaza marks their debut appearance at the Thousand Oaks venue.

The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American music. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, The Temptations began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn't until 1964 however; that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced "The Way You Do The Things You Do" turned the group into stars.

An avalanche of hits followed, many of which..."My Girl," for instance...attained immortality. Additional hits for the group include "It's Growing", "Since I Lost My Baby", "Get Ready", "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", "Beauty Is Only Skin Deep", and "I Wish It Would Rain" to name just a few.

Although the personnel has changed over the years, The Temptations remain true to The Temptations tradition and have survived the whims of music trends, whether disco or techno, and continue to be a musical force.

Opening for The Temptations will be comedian MARIO JOYNER who is the former host of MTV's "Half-Hour Comedy Tour" and is a frequent guest on "The Late Show" with David Letterman.

Single tickets are priced at $55.00-$35.00 and are available from Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or through the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Box Office, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard.
