The Slide Brothers, MYSO, Red Baraat and More Set for Marcus Center's 2013 Live @ Peck Pavilion Series, Beg. Tonight

The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts announces the 2013 season line up for the Live @ Peck Pavilion series in Marcus Center's Peck Pavilion that will kick off this July. This series, which started last summer, will feature types of performances the Center typically presents inside the building on its newly updated grounds. This is a way for the Marcus Center to invite the public to sample the arts in a marvelous setting for a nominal cost.

Performances are Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. starting tonight, July 23 and will run through August 27. Reserved seating prices are available in the bowl only. A season ticket package is available for $60. Single seat tickets are $15 and are on sale on Thursday, May 30. Tickets are available in person at the Marcus Center Box Office at 929 North Water Street, Downtown Milwaukee, by calling 414-273-7206, online at MarcusCenter.org or Ticketmaster.com. Ground seating is available for free around Peck Pavilion. Tickets for groups of 10 or more are $10 and are available by calling 414-273-7121 ext. 210 or 213. July 23: The Slide Brothers
The Slide Brothers are Calvin Cooke, Chuck Campbell, Darick Campbell and Aubrey Ghent-the greatest living musicians who embody the Sacred Steel tradition. The joyous music these legendary artists create extends far beyond scared steel to encompass blues, rock and soul all celebrated with a sound that is uniquely their own.

July 30: The Dunwells
Striking an exhilarating blend of English rock and American roots music, The Dunwells' songs arrive both ready for the fight and the fallout. Emerging from the pubs and clubs of Leeds, England, their hometown in 2009, The Dunwells' stellar musicianship, classic roots songwriting and soaring harmony vocals have already made instant but lasting impressions on scores of fans.

August 6: The Florentine Opera Company
The Florentine Opera Company reflects the highest musical and theatrical standards, while supporting community and educational programs. As a leader in Wisconsin's art community and the nation's sixth oldest opera company, the Florentine Opera seeks to establish a significant presence in the cultural, educational and civic life of the state of Wisconsin and beyond.

August 13: Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) Show Case
Regarded as the nation's largest and most extensive youth orchestra program, Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) offers the highest level of training in ensemble musicianship to motivated young people from diverse backgrounds across southeastern Wisconsin. Students with varied levels of instrumental skills benefit from the broad range of MYSO experiences, all created to foster talent, build character and enhance lives by nurturing an enduring love of music. Serving more than 900 talented young musicians from as many as fourteen counties in Southeastern Wisconsin, MYSO has won both local and national acclaim-including the State of Wisconsin's Governor's Award, plus special recognition from the National Endowment for the Arts and the United Performing Arts Fund-especially for MYSO's pioneering Community Partnership Programs. MYSO is a proud founding member of the United Performing Arts Fund.

August 20: Pert Near Sandstone
Pert Near Sandstone rejuvenates American stringband music with raw energy; they play tightly-crafted original material that lends itself to the modern audience, as well as being stewards of the old-time and bluegrass traditions. They are just as at home playing fully acoustic in the traditional style as they are plugged in at an indie rock venue. From saloons to theaters, hollering into a single microphone and laying thick rhythm on driving fiddle melodies, their sweat-inducing, foot-stomping live performances keep crowds begging for more all night long.

August 27: Red Baraat
Red Baraat is a pioneering eight-piece band from Brooklyn, New York. The group has drawn worldwide praise for its singular sound -- a merging of hard driving North Indian bhangra rhythms with elements of jazz, go-go, brass funk, and hip-hop. Created with no less a purposeful agenda than manifesting joy and unity in all people, Red Baraat's spirit is worn brightly on its sweaty and hard-worked sleeve.
