After generating yet another wave of critical acclaim with the release of "instant classic" (ELLE) "slice of warm and wistful folk-pop" (PASTE) third single "Mildenhall", The Shins have unleashed a fourth advance track from Heartworms: "Painting A Hole". Textured with spiraling vocals and a body-swaying rhythm, "Painting A Hole" employs James Mercer's singular lyrical voice to examine the way our society perpetuates beliefs that rarely reflect our everyday reality ("You're painting a hole/Can you crawl up inside it?").

James on the message behind the song: "People create beliefs or inherit them and those beliefs very rarely reflect the reality we live in every day. Like a coyote in a cartoon, painting a hole in the side of a cliff then falling through it, I think these belief systems are just about as ridiculous as that."

"Painting A Hole" is available as an instant grat, but head over to http://smarturl.it/Heartworms to stream it now.

In addition to the dates already announced in support of Heartworms, The Shins have confirmed three exclusive, intimate shows to celebrate the album's release: March 10th (release day) at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, March 14th at Bowery Ballroom in New York and March 15th at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
