The Music Center On Location will showcase pioneering music and dance artists at the newly renovated Ford Theatres as part of the IGNITE @ the FORD! Series.

The three-night engagement at the outdoor amphitheatre will feature groundbreaking performances including a contemporary dance performance of Awáa by acclaimed choreographer Aszure Barton on Friday, August 18, 2017; a double bill of contemporary dance by the innovative Jacob Jonas The Company and experimental electronic music from Tim Hecker with Kara-Lis Coverdale on Saturday, August 19, 2017; and a one-of-a-kind concert under the stars by singer, songwriter and composer Rufus Wainwright on Sunday, August 20, 2017.

The first engagement of The Music Center On Location features:

  • Awáa by critically acclaimed choreographer Aszure Barton: A powerful journey through music and sound, Awáa is a visually stunning tribute, celebrating sexuality and humanity through movement.
  • Jacob Jonas The Company's On Me: Jonas blends contemporary ballet with breakdance and acrobatics as the company explores the idiom "to carry the weight of the world on one's shoulders."
  • A special concert of Tim Hecker with Kara-Lis Coverdale: Featuring a mix of past and new material in an entirely new configuration designed for the unique outdoor location, Hecker's varied and celebrated works are visual and sonic happenings experienced by audiences as choreography without dancers.
  • Rufus Wainwright's Northern Stars: This is Wainwright's first performance in Los Angeles in three years and his only U.S. performance of Northern Stars this year. The concert honors Canada's 150th anniversary with a special evening of curated songs by Canadian music icons Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Leonard Cohen, among others, performed by Wainwright with his own distinct interpretation. Limited availability of a VIP Ticket Package for this concert only: Audiences can meet the artist and enjoy valet parking, a gourmet boxed dinner, premier seats, a post-performance champagne reception and a special gift.
