Chuck Berry. Elvis. Buddy Holly. Little Richard. Bill Haley & the Comets. In the 1950's they mixed rockabilly and gospel and rhythm & blues, and out came something called rock & roll – music that changed the world.

Middlebury's Town Hall Theater takes a trip back to the 50's this week. The Grift, recent winner of the Vermont Battle of the Bands, will play wall-to-wall 50's rock & roll for a dance tonight, May 4, at 8 pm.

The big THT floor will be open for dancing, but there will also be plenty of seating for those who just want to sit back and enjoy the music. A cash bar and snacks will be available.

The Grift caused a sensation earlier in the year at THT when they presented back-to-back evenings of Beatles covers. Consummate musicians, they can present note-perfect versions of classic records. But they also know how to make this music swing in their own way.

The dance is on Friday, May 4. The band kicks off at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $12, and may be purchased at www.townhallthetater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Noon- 5 pm, Mon-Sat) or at the door.
