The Alden and the McLean Community Center's (MCC) Summer Sunday Concerts in the Park begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, at McLean Central Park. The free, hour to two hour-long concerts are held in the park gazebo. The park is located at 1468 Dolley Madison Blvd. Free parking is available at MCC or the Dolley Madison Library.

This year's series is composed entirely of bands with female front-women. They represent a variety of genres, proving that these women can do anything.

The Ebony Hillbillies
Sunday, July 5, 5 p.m.
This African-American string band from New York City specializes in a rootsy sound that originated in the 1920s and 30s, but still carries echoes of country, blues, jazz and R&B. Henrique Prince's joyful vocals lead the quintet in both vintage and modern classics.

Ruthie and the Wranglers
Sunday, July 12, 5 p.m.

DC-based, roots music group Ruthie and the Wranglers continue roping in new fans with their high-powered honkytonk, country and rockabilly music. Lead vocalist and songwriter, Ruthie Logsdon, has racked up numerous Washington Area Music Association awards (WAMMIES) on her own, and together Ruthie and the Wranglers have earned more than 25 WAMMIES.

Jennifer Cutting's OCEAN Orchestra
Sunday, July 19, 5 p.m.

What do you get when you cross Scottish and Irish jigs with a rock and roll rhythm section; power-pop and classical symphonic themes with spine-tingling electronics? You get OCEAN, the intoxicating musical cocktail from genre-bending composer/bandleader Jennifer Cutting. Cutting directs an all-star ensemble of the Washington, D.C. area's favorite Celtic musicians, in music ranging from ethereal to rockin'.

The Lisa Lim Band
Sunday, July 26, 5 p.m.
Another multiple-WAMMIE award winner, Lisa Lim, will rock the park with masterful songwriting, burning guitar and distinctive vocals-all with a killer blues/rock edge.
