Tennis Tours with HAIM, New Album Out this Spring on Communion Records
In anticipation of the release of their new album this Spring, Tennis is set to embark on a nationwide tour with HAIM in May. The celebrated husband and wife duo will also headline shows in Brooklyn and Chicago; please see complete dates below. The band recently wrapped up recording sessions with Patrick Carney (The Black Keys) for their new album, the band's first full-length release on Communion Records following 2013's EP Small Sound. LA Weekly praised the band for their "soft, simple and sunny melodies" and Wild Honey Pie named the EP one of their "best of 2013." The band recently wrapped up a sold out U.S. tour in January and performed songs from the EP on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" HERE. More info can be found on the band's Facebook and Twitter.
Tennis was born aboard Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley's nearly seven-month sailing trip. Upon returning home, the duo began writing music together as a way to document the history of their shared experience. The result was Cape Dory, an intimate and concise recollection of life on a 30-foot sloop. Moore and Riley followed Cape Dory with Young and Old, which The New York Times called "striking indie-pop" and The New Yorker described as "winsome as it is ebullient." The album debuted #1 on Billboard's Heatseeker Chart, #1 on CMJ Top 200, where it remained for three weeks in a row and debuted on Soundscan's "New Artist Chart" at #1, remaining there for nine consecutive weeks. The band performed on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Conan" and "Last Call with Carson Daly."
