The third installment of ABC Music Lounge's "Nashville"-inspired docu-web series, "On the Record," is live at www.abc.com/musiclounge with new original song "Telescope" from Big Machine Records. Written by Hillary Lindsey and Cary Barlowe and performed by show star Hayden Panettiere (Juliette Barnes) -- and separately by the Stella Sisters (Maddie and Daphne Conrad) -- the song is featured in this week's episode of "Nashville," WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
During the show the song will be played twice, once during the making of a Juliette Barnes music video, and again by Maddie and DaphneConrad during a recital attended by their mother, Rayna James, played by
Connie Britton. With interviews from Panettiere,
CALLIE KHOURI (creator/executive producer),
R.J. Cutler (director/executive producer) and the songwriters, "On the Record" will uncover how "Telescope" was written and what it means for the characters. There will also be an exclusive acoustic performance of the song by Lindsey and Barlowe.
"It's just one of those feel good, very-right-for-her-audience, spunky, sassy songs," says Panettiere in the video. "When they first said dancing, I thought, 'Oh no'… But then I got out and I got to do it and I didn't mess up. I was stoked, and it just got better and better."
According to Khouri, "We wanted to find a way of constantly having this music that Rayna is not really that into in her face and showing her that there's value to it."
"Nashville's" new original songs being released this week include "Telescope" (Stella Sisters version) and "Fade Into You," written by Trevor Rosen, Shane McAnally, Matt Jenkins and performed by
CLARE BOWEN (Scarlett) and
Sam Palladio (Gunnar). In addition, if you've been waiting for

Charles Esten's (Deacon) song "No One Will Ever Love You," written by Steve Mcwean and

"On the Record" is a documentary web series that follows the life of original songs performed on "Nashville" written by singer/songwriters in the music scene, from the songs' inception to on-air premiere. The series offers an intimate look into the songwriting process, from guitar demo to music video and all the steps in between.
