Tegan and Sara Performing With Katy Perry at Hollywood Bowl Tonight
Tegan and Sara have been on a rampage ever since the release of their 7th studio album, Heartthrob earlier this year, and there's no sign that they'll be slowing down anytime soon. "Closer," the first single off Heartthrob, has broken into the top 20 on the Top 40 radio chart, where it currently sits at #17 and climbing thanks to big support behind stations like Z100/New York, KAMP/Los Angeles, KMVQ/SF, B96/Chicago, KLIF/Dallas and more putting the song on over 150 Top 40 stations nationwide. It's a milestone for Tegan and Sara.
On the heels of being invited to perform "Closer" with Taylor Swift at one of her Staples Center shows last month, Tegan and Sara were handpicked by Katy Perry to open for her at the "We Can Survive" Benefit Concert tonight, October 23rd at the Hollywood Bowl. They just released a brand new track entitled "Shudder to Think" as part of the soundtrack for Dallas Buyer's Club which premiered with RollingStone.com. The girls also linked up with musician/singer/songwriter Kurt Hugo Schneider, whose primary medium is YouTube music videos, and who also happens to be a big fan. The result is an acoustic version of "Closer" which launched on Kurt's Top 20 YouTube Music Channel late last week.
Tegan and Sara just played live on The Today Show, wrapped up a North American tour with Fun. and will be hitting LA for "We Can Survive" as well as Las Vegas' House of Blues before taking off on a string of international dates through December. For a full list of upcoming dates, see the below. Speaking of Las Vegas, the Hard Rock Café LV has commemorated Tegan and Sara's marriage equality performance for human rights on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The red jackets Tegan and Sara wore are on display, as well as the acoustic guitar used during the performance.
