The Suzi Bass Awards is thrilled to announce that David M. (Dave) Paule, Executive Director of GreenLaw, was elected the organization's Chair of the Board of Directors at a regular Board Meeting this summer. Paule succeeds Beth Davis, of Burr + Forman, who served as Chair for several years.

Executive Director Karen Howell remains the head of the organization and she expressed her gratitude toward outgoing Board Chair, Beth Davis, in a statement. "Beth has been an important and integral part of the Suzis for many years. She was a passionate leader and champion for the organization. Her dedication to the Suzis was evident in the giving of her time and energy, as well as her financial support over the years," says Howell. "I am so very grateful to Beth for her years of service, and we will certainly miss her wisdom and knowledge of all things Suzi!"

Paule has a great deal of not-for-profit experience: some as a volunteer board member, some as employment. Prior to Greenlaw, Dave was the Chief Revenue Officer for the Atlanta Opera, and prior to that, the Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Early in his career, Dave was the marketing head for Delta Cargo, the air freight division of Delta Air Lines. A fuller biography is below.

"Dave Paule brings years of non-profit and arts experience to the Suzis. He has worked in marketing, development, fundraising, and communications. Dave is also an experienced educator and writer," says Executive Director Karen Howell. "I am excited about his vision for the Suzis and the expertise he brings to us, and I am really looking forward to working with Dave, our energetic, smart board, and our seemingly tireless cadre of volunteers."

Dave is an experienced executive, fundraiser, writer and educator with a track record of accomplishments in strategic planning, marketing communications, product development, branding, e-commerce, and project management. He specializes in global business turn-arounds and building green-field organizations.

Dave Paule is the Executive Director of GreenLaw, a 501(c)(3) public interest environmental law firm dedicated to protecting Georgia's environment. GreenLaw's legal expertise has been an essential component in the battle to compel government agencies to enforce the law and to force industries to remedy serious water and air pollution violations across the state.

Prior to joining GreenLaw, Dave spent two years as Chief Revenue Officer of the Atlanta Opera where he led the marketing, communications and fundraising functions, and which saw overall revenue increase by 55% during his tenure. Previously, he served for three years as the Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, where he overhauled the promotion, sales and revenue management functions. He also served as the ASO's Senior Director for Development overseeing government, foundation, and event-based fundraising.

Formerly, Dave worked at Delta Air Lines as marketing head for Delta Cargo, the company's $1.1 Billion air freight division.

Dave has a great deal of not-for-profit experience serving as a director and fundraiser for multiple non-profits in the areas of mental health, child welfare, disaster relief, the arts and civil rights. He serves on the Boards of Directors for Callanwolde Fine Art Center (Emeritus), the Suzi Bass Awards, and the Board of Ambassadors for the Grady Foundation. He is also a member of the faculty of Georgia State University's J. Mack Robinson School of Business, where he teaches the Managerial Sciences curriculum.

In his spare time, he is a novelist, publishing stories under the name DM Paule. He released The Monarch of Key West in 2001, and Highlands-a-Go-Go: Finding Virginia Highland in 2009. He also has prior experience in photography, broadcasting, video production and standup comedy. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He lives in Atlanta.
