On March 31, 2012 DISTANT WORLDS: music from FINAL FANTASY will make a return to the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts with the 71-member Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. DISTANT WORLDS features award-winning music from the record-breaking video game series FINAL FANTASY. Cosplayers are welcome!

Conducted by Grammy Award-winning conductor, composer, and record producer Arnie Roth, DISTANT WORLDS will include an appearance by special guest of honour Japanese video game composer Nobuo Uematsu. Music and scenes from games throughout the Final Fantasy series will be performed along with a special new piece, Final Fantasy VI: Dark World, featuring Uematsu performing live on keyboards and Roth on violin.

DISTANT WORLDS: music from FINAL FANTASY combines live orchestral music with cutting edge videos and art stills from the games most memorable sequences on a 22 foot wide screen, projected entirely in HD! This hybrid of music and technology will allow new and old fans alike to experience the world of Final Fantasy.

Since its 1987 debut the Final Fantasy franchise has sold over 110 million copies worldwide and has become the most recognized role playing game in the world. It continues to reach new players and fans with unique characters, compelling storylines and engaging game play. These elements have helped propel the series into numerous sequels, live productions and motion pictures.

SONY CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, Toronto’s first performing arts centre, has played a defining role in the cultural life of Toronto for more than 50 years. Today, the newly renovated Sony Centre is home to a roster of national and international artists that reflect the diversity and sophistication of 21st century Toronto.
