The competition this year will include a wide variety of talented artists from around the world. Showdown's lineup includes names such as Band of Heroes, Nevada Color, Kevin Andreas, Side Saddle and Laura & Greg. They will also continue the tradition of pairing up the director of the winning music video and the winner of the battle of the bands for the winning prize, which will be a music video produced by Emmy award winning Silver Sound. This prize has a combined worth of over $10,000, which will premier at next year's festival and will be aired throughout various media outlets.

Silver Sound Showdown this year has added opportunities for audience member engagement through their partnership with BeaconCrawl. The BeaconCrawl app provides the audience with a gamified proximity social platform, additional voting platforms and eligibility to win prizes. Audience members must download the BeaconCrawl app and join the Silver Sound Showdown Crawl. Users can gain points for interacting, sharing to their social communities, and responding to various incentives. Users who vote on the app for their favorite band and music videos gain points and raffle tickets that allow them to win prizes such as an Apple Watch, Nexus 5X, a year of Ting mobile phone service, a Zoom H6, and various sporting tickets.

Donn Gobin, BeaconCrawl Co-founder, believes that partnering with Silver Sound Showdown is a "perfect use case" for the BeaconCrawl platform and will continue to define the pairing of technology and entertainment for more dynamic use with mobility. Gobin believes adding a "gaming element" to a social atmosphere will help foster a group dynamic that will provide a desirable atmosphere and eliminate pressures of social conversations and connections.

Following the rise of technology innovation in New York City, BeaconCrawl has partnered with several tech-forward brand and community sponsors such as Uber, Karma, and Launch LM. Edward Casabian, Senior Community Manager at Uber, expresses the benefits of this partnership: "Uber seamlessly connect riders to drivers through our apps and make cities more accessible. Beacon technology opens the possibility to take that engagement one step further." Social bandwidth is a desired concept for Karma, and possible through beacon technology as stated by Steve Van Wel, CEO and Co-Founder of Karma. Van Wel says Karma strives to demonstrate how technology can "promote social interactions" and believes BeaconCrawl fits this idea "perfectly" through combining "socializing and mobile" with "fun" experiences.
