Captivating Australian singer-songwriter Sarah Blasko is taking her highly anticipated new album I Awake on the road with her in a big way in February 2013 when she performs at Arts Centre Melbourne, Hamer Hall at 8pm tonight, 14 February as part of a national tour. She has invited an orchestra in each capital city to accompany her, to rouse the beast that is I Awake.

The new album, which is her fourth, was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden with As Day Follows Night engineer and mixer, Lasse Mårtén. Further recording took place in Sofia, Bulgaria with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra.

Sarah Blasko wrote the new album, after spending the first half of 2011 in a house in Brighton, England alone with her thoughts and memories, "haunted and unsettled". She said she wrote the album for herself and her family, after gaining strength from her solitary move.

Sarah Blasko said, "At times I thought this record would kill me. Honestly, it was a behemoth! There were moments I felt I would sink beneath it. But that's the kind of thing you choose - I chose to produce it myself. I chose an orchestra. An avalanche of sound, soaring and shrieking, simple and striking to send you tumbling."

Sarah Blasko has won two ARIAs for Best Female and Best Pop Album and also triple j's J Award for Australian Album of the Year. She has been nominated for a further 14 ARIAs (including two for Album of The Year) and been shortlisted for two Australian Music Prizes and another J Award. All three of her previous albums - The Overture & the Underscore, What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have and As Day Follows Night - have exceeded Platinum sales.

Tickets for Sarah Blasko's I Awake concert at Arts Centre Melbourne, Hamer Hall go on sale at 9am Friday 26 October. The National tour also includes Adelaide, Hobart, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth.

The highly anticipated forthcoming album I Awake was released via Dew Process / UMA on Friday 26 October 2012. To order the album, go to sarahblasko.com.
