Sara Bareilles On Grammy Nominations, Gay Rights & WAITRESS: THE MUSICAL
Chart-topping pop hit-maker Sara Bareilles discusses her multiple 2014 Grammy Award nominations, gay rights as well as her current work on the screen-to-stage adaptation of cult indie film WAITRESS as part of a new interview.
Recounting her reaction to receiving the news she had been nominated for multiple Grammys this year, Bareilles relates, "I was shaking. I was in a hotel when my manager called and I just screamed. I'm sure my neighbors must have thought something horrible happened."
Commenting on current single "Brave" and its pertinent gay rights message, Bareilles shares, "I was really ignited by gay rights and getting gay marriage supported. But the song took on a life of its own and I've received so much of people sharing their stories."
Furthermore, previewing her enticing future plans, Bareilles says, "I'm writing a collection of essays about my life and also a musical adaptation of the film WAITRESS."
Shedding some light on the musical project, Bareilles adds, "I started in musical theatre, so it's like coming home."
